# Budget & expenses

> Set your total wedding budget and track spending by category and item.

**Budget & expenses** helps you set an overall number and see exactly where it's going.

## Setting your total budget

Select **Edit budget** and enter the total amount you'd like to spend. You can change this anytime as your plans evolve.

## Organizing with categories

Group expenses into categories — venue, catering, attire, and so on — each with its own color so your budget chart is easy to read at a glance. Add, rename, or reorder categories by dragging them.

    A per-person expense (like catering) automatically scales with your guest count.

  Your budget uses the currency set in [Wedding settings, plan & billing](/planning/wedding-settings-plan-and-billing). If you change your currency later, you'll be offered the option to convert existing amounts.
